WHY GET WAXED?

There are so many benefits that come with a regular waxing routine, unlike shaving & hair removal creams that only remove the hair on the skins surface, waxing removes the hair from the root. This means the hair takes longer to grow back 2-3 weeks after your first wax &  4-5 weeks after a few sessions. Clients feel cleaner & more hygienic after the hair is removed & also the hair will grow back soft & sparse with none of itchiness thats caused when hairs grown back after shaving or ingrowen hairs from hair removal creams.

WHAT CONDITIONS MAY PREVENT WAXING BEING CARRIED OUT?

Contagious skin conditions will prevent any waxing on the affected are until the condition has completely cleared. Clients taking Rosccutane must wait 6 months after finishing their medication before receiving a waxing treatment.  I am unable to remove hair from skin that is sunburnt, chafed or broken, or from skin that has been treated with sterioid creams, Retin-A, Differin or other retinoid acne products within the last 3 months.

It is not recommended having your first wax immediately before a special occasion or holiday as the treated area may look and feel a little sore afterward, better to book a few days before to allow the skin to settle down.

HOW WILL THE SKIN FEEL AFTERWARDS?

Some slight soreness and redness are common temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. These should subside within a few hours and many people find that regular waxing results in less irritation.  It is not unusual for a first time waxee to experience a few pimples on the chest and back.  I recommend applying an antiseptic cream to the area for a few days after your treatment which will help to soothe & protect the skin.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TREATMENT

Gentle exfollation of the area to be waxed a few days before your wax removes dead skin cells , this will help to prevent ingrown hairs. The hairs need to be at least 1/2cm long in order for the wax to be able to grip the hair. Do not shave or use removal creams on the area for at least 3 weeks prior to your appointment. If you already get waxed regularly then leave at least 4 weeks between appointments. Don't worry about trimming beforehand, I can do that for you. Please shower before your appointment & if possible wear clean loose fitting clothing over the area to be waxed.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

Everyone is different when it comes to the time it takes for the hairs to grown back, because of the way the gair grows, it may take 3-4 appointments spaced evenly apart to get a growth cycle that gives best results. To maintain the smoothness, it is recommended to be waxed regularly every 4-5 weeks.

HOW LONG AFTER WAXING BEOFRE BOOKING A MASSAGE, SPRAY TAN OR SUNBED?

Depending on the area waxed, it is advised to wait a day or so before having a massage. You must leave at least 24 hours before tanning, this includes fake tanning and the use of UV sunbeds.

AFTERCARE

You must avoid heat and friction for at least 24 hours after your appointment, no hot baths or showers (wasing with cool or lukewarm water is fine), no sunbathing, saunas, hot tubs or steam rooms. Avoid exercising and wearing tight clothing tha may cause excessive skin rubbing. Avoid swimming and the use of fragranced body lotions or sprays. To help prevent ingrown hairs, exfoliate a few days before your wax 3 times a week, applying baby oil to the wet skin afterward and then drying yourself.
